NEWS RELEASE

Go Brazen is the brainchild of Valerie Brigham. Since July 2014, she and her sister, Jennifer Brigham, have been building an on-line and on-the-road retail business for women who love motorcycle riding, boating, travel and adventure. On November 6, their dream of a unique “bricks and mortar” store will become a reality. The Go Brazen store will be open daily at 1529 Old West Main Street in Red Wing, directly across the street from Kelly’s Bar and next door to the Red Wing Taxi company.

Here is a video of the new store.

About a dozen years ago, after two decades of working corporate jobs in the Twin Cities and in Red Wing, Valerie had a cancer scare and major surgery. This led to her taking up cross-country motorcycle riding – solo, and then later encouraging other women to be as bold, road tripping alone and with groups. “When you’ve had a major life changing event, you take a look at where you are in the world, and what matters. For me, I craved the open road, and a life of exploration. I come from a family of travelers and adventurers. It felt natural to do my own venturing forth.”

Over the next several years and thousands of miles on her 1600 Yamaha, Valerie developed a unique style of motorcycle attire. Her sister Jennifer Brigham, a partner in the business, explains. “Val is a curvy, vivacious gal with a stunning fashion sense. While other plus-sized gals might wear jeans, larger men’s tee-shirts and a black leather jacket, not Val! You’ll see her in lace, leopard print, soft brown leather with fringe, and a silk scarf blowing in the wind. It is how we came up with the name Go Brazen. When you meet Val, well . . . it just fits.”

Valerie has traveled with her pop-up store (a tent) to several states and motorcycle rallies to sell her wares—including two Sturgis Motorcycle Rallies. “Our first big event was Sturgis 2014, and yes, we were at the huge 75th Anniversary Rally this year with about a million bikers. What a trip!”

Unique to Go Brazen is its attention to details that make curvier, plus-sized women comfortable, confident and fashionable as they ride—whether it be a motorcycle, or a boat, or going to Zumba class. “We have curves, and we want other curvy woman of ALL sizes to rock their curves and appreciate creating a bold, bombshell sense of style,” said Jennifer. “I have always loved fashion and dressing for your figure...don't hide what you have. Life's too short to be a boring, baggy dresser!” said Valerie.

Custom bandanas, scarves and headbands are a fashion staple at Go Brazen. Val designs one-of-a-kind headwear with Swarovski crystals and unique centerpieces, each hand crafted in her shop. Most of her clothing and accessories is made in the U.S.A.
